Achieve Maximum Height with Maximum Functionality-Full Size Double Action Swinging Doors

Full Size Café Doors with Double Action Hardware

Are you looking for full length café doors to fill nearly your entire opening? We have the answer. The best hinge to allow for maximize door height and width is the Bommer 7800 series. There are several variations of this hinge. Allow us to explain the hinges so we can determine the best hinge for your application.

There will still be small gaps using these hinges, but these are the smallest gaps possible with double action hinges and full height doors.

These hinges can be used for single swinging doors as well as double swinging doors. Max door width is 36”. Gaps will be 1⁄4” on the mounting side (between the door jamb and door). Gaps in the height vary based on whether you choose a jamb mount or floor mount hinge. The floor mount as it sounds will have the bottom hinge mounted directly to the floor. The jamb mount will have the bottom hinge mounted directly to the door jamb. The floor mount is going to have a smaller gap of 9/16” off the floor; jamb mount gap off the floor is 11/16”. Gap between the door(s) and header is 1⁄4” (if you recess the top pivot). Designed gap between double doors is 1⁄4”. All gaps have a tolerance of +/- 1/8”. All hinges have a 36” maximum door width and 90 lb door rating.

Horizontal Spring Pivot:

If you are mounting the doors into a traditional door opening and desire maximum height, then you will need a Bommer 7811, 7812, 7813 or 7814. The top pivot hinge will mount to the door header. Here is an explanation on the different options available.

Bommer 7811- Available in Primed, Gloss Black, Zinc, Polished Brass, Satin Brass, Satin Nickel, Satin Chrome, Oil Rubbed Bronze, and Oil Rubbed Bronze- Blackened Finishes. Allows for maximum door height with a double action hinges and minimal gaps (see above for gap information). This Bommer hinge uses a spring to pull the doors back to center, self-returning. This hinge has both a hold open version Bommer 7811 and non-hold open version (Bommer 7813). This hinge mounts to the floor and requires the top pivot to be recessed or flush mounted to the top of the door header. You can adjust the spring tension on the hinge to allow for a faster or slower swing of the doors. Max door width is 36" wide, thickness of door 1-3/8" to 1-3/4". The Bommer 7811 will hold open at approximately 75-90 degrees.

Bommer 7812- Available in Primed, Gloss Black, Zinc, Polished Brass, Satin Brass, Satin Nickel, Satin Chrome, Oil Rubbed Bronze, and Oil Rubbed Bronze- Blackened Finishes. Allows for max door height with a double action hinge and small gaps on the sides. The Bommer 7812 hinge uses a spring to pull the doors back to center, self-returning. This hinge has both a hold open version Bommer 7812 and non-hold version (Bommer 7814). This hinge mounts to the door jamb (jamb mount) and requires the top pivot to be recessed or flush mounted to the top of the door header. You can adjust the spring tension on the hinge to allow for a faster or slower swing of the doors. The Bommer 7812 will hold open at approximately 75-90 degrees.

If you are mounting doors where they cannot go into the door header, or the door header is taller (more than 1/4” taller) than the doors. You will need a Bommer 7818 or Bommer 7819. The same functionally of the other Bommer hinges, but the top pivot mounts to the door jamb. The bottom portion of this hinge can be ordered as a jamb mount or floor mount.

Bommer 7818- Available in Primed, Gloss Black, Zinc, Polished Brass, Satin Brass, Satin Nickel, Satin Chrome, Oil Rubbed Bronze, and Oil Rubbed Bronze- Blackened Finishes. This hinge can mount to the door jamb or to the floor. Depending on customer preference, the bottom hinge can mount directly to the floor or the jamb, whatever you prefer. When custom building the doors we need to know the mount for the bottom hinge that you prefer. The top pivot mounts to the door jamb as well, it cannot be recessed or mounted to the door header. The Bommer 7818 will hold open at approximately 75-90 degrees. You can adjust the spring tension on the hinge to allow for a faster or slower swing of the doors. The non-hold open version is the Bommer 7819.
