Video Install Of Our Louvre Café Doors from Swinging Cafe Doors 

One of our bestselling saloon doors is our “Café | Saloon Doors- Louvre Doors". These pre-made doors are built for standard door opening sizes- 30”, 32”, and 36” door openings. Let us step you thru installing these louvre café doors.

When purchasing doors from Swinging Café Doors, they are sold as doors and hardware. This video will show how the standard gravity hinges are installed on the Cafe | Saloon Doors- Louvre Doors. The hinges includes countersunk screws meant for installing directly to wood, if you are installing to drywall etc., you will need longer screws or trim boards. The hardware must attach to a solid surface not drywall, please make sure the doors are secure. The Café | Saloon Doors- Louvre Doors are normally installed with the tallest point of the arch meeting in the middle of the door opening.

First gather all the tools need to install the doors, instructions, 3/32” drill bit, 1/8” drill bit, Phillip Head screwdriver, pen or pencil, tape measure, and level. Unwrap doors and hardware before beginning.

Step 1- Installing the top pivot to the top of the door.

Measure 9/16” from the finished back edge of the door (top of the door) and mark the location with a line. Place and center the top pivot at this line and mark the holes. Remove the hardware and pre-drill the holes with a 1/8” drill bit. Using the pilot holes, attach the top pivot assembly to the top of the door with the Philips countersunk screws provided.

Step 2- Installing the bottom pivot to the bottom of the door.

Measuring ½” from the finished edge of the door (bottom of the door), mark the location with a line. Place and center the bottom pivot at this line and mark the holes. Remove the hardware and pre-drill the holes with a 1/8” drill bit. Using the pilot holes, attach the bottom pivot with the round panhead screws into the bottom of the door.

Step 3- Flip white Nylon ramp

Unscrew the white nylon ramp, flip the bracket, and re-attach the white nylon ramp.

Next, determine the location of the doors on the door jamb. Position of café doors to the door jamb can vary according to your own preference. Swinging Café Doors recommend 18” to 24” from the finished floor to the bottom of the door for a 42” tall door. Most hinges can be mounted in the center or the edge of the door jamb. 

Step 4- Install bottom bracket to the door jamb

Measuring from the finished floor, mark the proper location for the bottom bracket onto the door jamb with a line. Place the bottom bracket to the line, ensuring the bracket is level, and mark the holes. Pre-drill the holes with a 3/32” drill bit. Using the pilot holes, attach the bottom jamb bracket to the door jamb using Philips countersunk screws.

Step 5- Installing the top bracket to the door jamb.

Set the door into the bottom bracket. Mockup the installation location of the top bracket by setting the top bracket onto the top pivot hinge. Mark this location with a line, from the line measure up 3/8” of an inch. Mark this location with a second line. Using the second line, place the top of the top bracket to the second line. Ensuring the bracket is level, mark the holes. Pre-drill the holes of the bracket with the 3/32” drill bit. Using the pilot holes, attach the top jamb bracket to the door jamb using round panhead screws. Make sure that you maintain a 3/8” height gap. This gap allows the doors to rise as the door is opened, allowing for the hold open feature to be engaged.

Once the first door is in place, then you will need to follow steps 1-5 for the additional door. After both doors are installed, test the operations. The hinges will hold open if desired at 125 degrees. If alignment is not perfect, the doors can be adjusted using the screw in the bottom of the pivot.
